Templates for Categories

This came from a Tweetdeck search for eportfolio and I did make sure to favourite the tweet so it also would be saved to Diigo and I added it to Scoopit as well.  Once I looked through the content on Own one thing became very clear, it will be very easy to add categories, tags and menus to our students blogs. This will mean we won’t have to worry about some of the tagging problems we have had due to misspelling or capitalization.

I remember having a conversation on twitter about the need for standardized themes for navigation purposes. I don’t like the idea and would rather have each student pick the theme they want to use. This could make the standardization that some people want a lot easier and also allow for choice with themes.

The method is real simple, works well and falls into the why didn’t I think of that category! Create a template blog containing the categories, tags and menus you want your students to have then export the blog. Have the students import the template blog into their blog and the categories, tags, menus come along as well.
