Moving Photos?

Started with Yahoo and Delicious then Posterous. I always wonder who will turn up and buy Flickr. Today it was Instagram. Although I am and on and off user I have fun with it. I like seeing what others are up to and being able to see different parts of their lives. It’s like coaching MS soccer, students see a different side of you and this opens up different communication possibilities.

But with these types of purchases I wonder about where my data will end up. So in the end the only thing I can do is make sure I have some control over that.

Quite a while ago I used an IFTTT Instagram to Flickr workflow, actually I just checked it to see if I still had it up and running. Later I added an Instagram to WordPress workflow to send my Instagram photos to a WordPress blog. Because I wanted to use a different WordPress blog with IFTTT a few weeks ago I changed this workflow so I could continue sending my Instagram photos to this blog. This meant installing the Instagrate to WordPress plugin. A few settings to add to the plugin and a little while later my instagram photos were posted to the KwickPics blog.

Though I think I will adopt a wait and see attitude I am glad I pushed my Instagram photos to a second location that I have control over.
