Badge Exploration Part Two

Reworked everything and the BadgeOS based blog is close enough to use. Although this  is WordPress it’s not really a blog but a tracking system. Like the stars on grid paper I remember my grade seven teacher using more years ago than I care to share! In those days you were given a task and when you were done you got a star!

This basically is the same. Instead of stars you collect badges.

Students are given quests. When the quests are completed a notification is sent. The system logs the student activity and sends me a notification email. After a student completes a number of quests they receive a quest badge. To receive the final badge the student needs to complete a number of quest badges. This makes it easier for me to track and monitor what my DEAR kids are doing! Actually a system like this would come in handy in many of the projects I have used in the past.

So I have:

  • modified the login page to make it fit the theme (see slides below)
  • modified the user dashboard so that all you see is links to badging system. All students are subscribers and there is not writing done on the badging system. That will be done on student blogs.
  • modified all the badges and tried to add a theme to the quests.
  • change the font system to take advantage of Google Fonts.
  • added a terms plugin so I could define some of the words I used.

Ready go in January!
